M³ - A Trustworthy Digital Architecture
Energy efficiency demands and exciting new use cases such as AI drive silicon designs toward the integration of heterogeneous processing cores and accelerators to serve every workload as efficiently as possible. However, this ‘age of custom silicon’ currently collides with the ‘age of hardware vulnerabilities’: Due to the dramatic increase in hardware-level complexity, hardware itself becomes an attack vector. What started with the Spectre and Meltdown processor weaknesses has proliferated into an ongoing stream of exploitable hardware design flaws. The M³ platform offers a way out by applying isolation mechanisms learned from the operating system domain to hardware. M³ isolates hardware components the same way operating systems isolate untrusted programs.
