Artificial Intelligence - Innovations and Development Potentials in Saxony
Algorithms of artificial intelligence (AI) are increasingly being used worldwide in a wide variety of application fields. Advances in the field of machine learning combined with the significantly increased performance of computing hardware and the improved availability of necessary training data lead to a multitude of new application scenarios and business opportunities.
Actors from Saxony already have AI skills and experience in many areas of practical use in areas such as image and speech processing or industrial data analysis. Further strengths of the internationally successful Saxon microelectronics industry lie in the development and implementation of specific hardware solutions for intelligent systems. This ranges from tailor-made systems from the Internet of Things environment with intelligent, networked sensor nodes to server systems for AI algorithms for processing large amounts of data.
Fraunhofer IIS/EAS and TU Dresden are currently working on a study on KI activities and competencies in the Saxon economy and research landscape in the KIKiS project. The study will provide information about current and future requirements and needs of companies. The aim is to sustainably promote the transfer and exchange of technological knowledge in the field of AI and thus open up economic potential for AI developments in Saxony.
In addition to the contents and activities of the KIKiS initiative, the keynote will also present results from expert interviews and an online survey conducted as part of the initiative.
