Feldschwarm® – a solution for automatic field robotic systems
In the Feldschwarm project, 11 project partners from industry, the university and research institutions are working together on developing and testing agricultural machines- so-called field swarm units (Feldschwarmeinheit). Field swarm units are characterized by an automation system used for controlling the machine, the working process and the driving tasks.
Different types of field swarm units will be developed – units pushed by a tractor and self-propelled units. The latter are driverless, fully automated machines. The self-propelled units are powered both by a conventional combustion engine or are equipped with a fully electric propulsion system.
For field use, the field swarm units will be connected to the controlling system helyOS. HelyOS provides planning data for the work tasks and the planned in-advance drive maneuvers. It also supervises the field swarm units during the field operation and serves as human-machine-interface for the operator of the field swarm units.
